Ways to connect with your children.

So you are seeking for ways to connect with your children, especially now that they are still very tender, you wish to spend more time with them, i just want to tell you that this is one of the best opportunity God has given to you, to be a parent to these beautiful little humans.

I also want to tell you that you are on the right path for seeking to connect more with your children, it’s one of the best thing a loving parent can do for the overall health of the family.

This is an aspect of parenting most parents neglect and it shouldn’t be that way. I understand that a whole lot of activities like our jobs, and life in general will tend to get in the way of deeper connection with our children.

But connecting with them on a deeper level is also a mojor part of life as a parent and shouldn’t be neglected.

Just becaùse you provide for them does not mean we should neglect their emotional feelings because i know they also want to connect with you too.

And now you are seeking for ways to connect more with your children, this post will give you some few tips that will help you have a fulfilling time with your children.

1. CONNECT WITH YOUR CHILDREN THROUGH DAILY ROUTINES.

It all boils down to our daily activities, some simple activities like brushing the teeth, praying, breakfasting e.t.c can be fun if you can find a way to do it together as a family.

Help them clean up their rooms, help them do their laundry and the dishes, all these activities when done together as a family will only increase the bond in the family, please do not neglect them.

Setting some time to do these simple daily routines together with them will create some beautiful memories that they will not forget in a hurry, and they will be looking up to this activities on a daily basis.

It also teaches them discipline because they now know that this particular time is for this particular activity. When they learn this at a younger age, then you are on the way to raising full developed children in the long run plus the fact that you will be connecting with them more.

This is a win win situation for you and the society at large.

2. ENJOY FUN ACTIVITIES TOGETHER

Another way to connect with your children on a deeper level is to enjoy fun activities together.

Is there any activity that you enjoy doing, it could be cooking, dancing, exercise or any activity you enjoy doing, i bet they will love it too, just bring them along.

Do you like baking? Why not bring them along in the kitchen to help you with one or two stuffs.

Do you work out in the weekends, they will love to work out too, and doing these fun activities together as a family all increases the fun your drive from it.

Even cooking can be done together, tell them to come help you with some cooking and they will gladly oblige.

And when they help you out, may be in the kitchen, or with some chores, try to appreciate them, appreciate their efforts no matter how little it is After all they are little humans.

Also help them with their school assignments and projects.

3.LISTEN TO THEIR STORIES AND KEEP THE CONVERSATION FLOWING.

Children love stories, they love being told a beautiful story, and they too love telling stories, don’t dismiss their stories as mere children’s stories, listen to them, pay attention to their stories.

You should know that these stories they are telling are all in a bid to understand and figure out the world around them.

It’s a whole big universe out there, and they can just understand it in a hurry, they will only understand through these simple gestures of theirs.

The best thing you can do as a parent seeking to connect with your children is to pay attention to their stories, ask them open questions about their stories just to keep the conversation going, approve of their stories and validate their feelings.

4. SHARE YOUR CHILDHOOD STORIES WITH THEM.

As much as you listen to their stories, you too should also tell your childhood stories to them, it goes a long way to shape their future to a big extent that you may not understand now.

The stories my Dad told me when i was younger are still vivid in my imagination up till today, even the ones he told me about his father, these stories has helped shape my life and till today i still reference them in my decision making process.

Tell them what the world was like when you were their age, tell them good stories about your parents, they will truly love it.

5. MAKE THEM FEEL LIKE THEY CAN TRUST YOU.

Make them feel they can trust you with anything by listening to them and their little stories.

If you dismiss their little stories as insignificant, then in a major story in their life, just know that they will not bother to tell you.

In case of a problem which they might have encountered, they will be comfortable telling a stranger or their teachers than telling you.

This is why you have to pay attention to your children especially listening to them, to their small remarks, to their small talks.

The mere fact that you are listening to them will build a solid bond and trust in the family, it will make them feel they can trust you with anything and they really should trust you with anything.

The way you make them feel is the real deal here, make them feel heard, make them feel confident in themselves, again validate their feelings.

6. DON’T JUDGE THEM IF THEY DO SOMETHING WRONG

You should also not judge them when they make mistakes, mistakes are a natural part of life and even we as adults always make mistakes.

When they make mistakes, the best thing to do is to correct them lovingly without judging or making them feel bad about themselves because of their mistakes.

Let them know that it is okay to make some mistakes, let them know that it’s okay to tell you about their mistakes, let them know that you are not going to judge them about their mistakes.

Finally, let them know that they can learn from their mistakes so they don’t repeat them again.

These simple things will let you connect on a deeper level with your children and even your loved ones.
