Success is a subjective term in the sense that one has to define the meaning of success before being used.

Success here is a personal term and for that i will let you define the term success for yourself and what it entails to be successful.

In this post, i will enumerate thirteen things to give up which will exponentially increase your chances of success in ways you never imagined.

1. GIVE UP ON THE UNHEALTHY LIFESTYLE

We all know the term ‘health is wealth’ , if you by now have not started taking care of your health, maybe you should start right away.

A healthy body will help you achieve all you can achieve in life and more. The food we eat, our routine and habits and our overall lifestyle all contribute to the quality of our health and thus the quality of our life, be guided accordingly.

Give up on the unhealthy lifestyle and you will be grateful to yourself you started today.

2. GIVE UP THE SHORT TERM MINDSET.

Life and success that comes along with it is not a sprint but a marathon. Whatever you are set to achieve, make sure you are on it for the long run.

Do not be addicted to short term gains and goals for nothing good comes easy.
Success is all about grit and persistence in whatever you are set to achieve. Whatever that is worthwhile, and whatever that will stand the test of time must also take time to build.

Take your time and focus on the process, enjoy the process and the results will be inevitable.

My advice is to not to listen to those excuses especially the ones you tell yourself, make the first move, take that first step, don’t focus on the obstacles, you only need to take that first step and other steps will be easier from there.

Change has always been a constant. We keep on evolving, our mindset need to evolve too.
It is in changing our mindset that we can change our lives.

A fixed mindset will pass opportunities repeatedly. An open mindset will keep on learning and evolve to be the best he can be.
That is the reason why reading is highly recommended because in reading, you borrow someone else point of view and apply it to your situation.

Always strive to fill your mind with relevant information, your mind is like a software and it needs steady update.

6. GIVE UP THE TOXIC PEOPLE

The one good reason why you need to give up on toxic people is because they can pull you to their level of toxicity and you absolutely don’t need that in your life.

Negative people have the ability and tendency to spread negativity in whatever they come across that why you need to distance yourself from such people and embrace the positive people around you.

Trust me you don’t want to be perfect, perfectionism is a mind game, thus it’s not real.

If you want to be real, then you need to quit your perfectionist tendencies and be your real self. It is in being your real self that you will learn and understand yourself, and not untill you learn to love yourself the way you are that people will love you unconditionally.

You don’t have to be perfect for people to love you, the right people that belong to your life will love you the way you are.

8. GIVE UP MULTITASKING

Multitasking will ultimately drain your energy and make you loose focus.
It is ideal to focus on a singular task at hand with all your energy, complete the task and move on to the next one.

Don’t try to juggle a whole lot of tasks all at the same time as this will waste your time.

9. GIVE UP YOUR NEED TO BE LIKED

Are you fixated on the need to be liked by others? Well I’m here to tell you to give that up. It’s your life anyways, do whatever you wish to do with your life as forever is not guaranteed.

Keep on being you, be unapologetic about it, it is the people who belong to your life that will cherish and adore everything about you. They will see how special and unique you are and they will love you for that.

10. ĢIVE UP ON SAYING YES ON
IRRELEVANT THINGS

Saying yes on irrelevant things will take time away from the relevant things.
It’s okay to say No sometimes to things that drain your energy and things that doesn’t resonate with you.

11. GIVE UP ON BELIEVING IN MAGIC BULLET.

There is no magic bullet to Success or a short cut to success.
Success equals perseverance, hardwork and grit. It’s a marathon, not a sprint so quit looking for the magic bullet and enjoy the process of your work.

It’s the process that pays the highest dividends not the trophy. The process equips you with the experiences you need to hold on even when things are not working the way they should.

12. GIVE UP YOUR NEED TO CONTROL EVERYTHING.

This is Life and you can’t control everything. There are a whole lot of things in life that are beyond your control, you just have to accept them, learn the things you can learn from them and move on.

Life is way bigger than our individual self but each of us has a contribution to make to life, find what you are to contribute  and focus on it.

13. GIVE UP YOUR DEPENDENCE ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND TV.

Are you dependent on the screens and social media, well it’s time to give yourself a break.
The thing is that all those programs on the screen are not real, and as you are fixated on them, your real life is passing you by.

Make real time connections, visit friends, join social groups, learn a new skill, go for a jog, visit the beach, learn a new music instrument. These are real life connections.

Social media and TVs are not bad, but your depence on them for your entertainment is not healthy for your wellbeing.

Now you have known these simple things to change your life, go ahead and make the changes.
